Summary: "Very good practical book"
I love this book. The author wrote this book from his own experience and there are tons of practical advises for doing import export business. I especially liked his money saving tips, practical style. This book is really good for those who wants to start small and experimental...It does not give you lot of clumsy jargon to understand, one may need another book for that. This book is bit expensive compare to other books. I would like to see a new edition of this book and an improved formatting style.

Summary: "Realistic, Inspiring and a Good Read"
The author is the real deal... he has been in the business for decades. Almost every preconception I had about importing as a business was dispelled by the author with good reasoning and evidence. He even responded thoughtfully to two emails I sent him. The book is now some years old. It still rings true, and it was a great investment for me. I hope that a revision is in the works, however.
As an aside... this book is an interesting read. This author is talented.

Summary: "Not as I expected..."
A lot of the things discussed in the book are very old school concepts. It does not have very good import-export management details over the Internet (electronic trade). How many people these days write letters or use Telex? A lot of the things are managed over the Internet. I was expecting more from the book which it does not provide.

I've been in the import business for several years and I regret not reading this book sooner to avoid all the problems and mistakes I've made. His ideas are very informative and accurate. Great book to read if you're interested in understanding how to enter the import business. Reading this book will definitely save you a lot of time, money, and sweat before getting in over your head.
